Cape gannet

Morus capensis

All photos of this species are of the same male bird that was discovered breeding at the Cape Kidnappers gannetry, New Zealand, on 21 December 1997. This was the first record of this species in New Zealand. The bird has attempted to breed at the colony with an Australasian gannet female in each breeding season since then, successfully raising a chick in some years.
